The Northern Branch Regional Final of the CIoH Young Horticulturist of the Year 2020 competition is planned for March 7th in the Conference Hall at Askham Bryan College near York and you are cordially invited to attend to see eight of the best young horticulturists in our region battle it out for a place at the Grand Final, being held this year at RBGE Logan Botanic Gardens near Stranraer on May 2nd.

Our eight competitors come from Askham Bryan College, RHS Gardens Harlow Carr, Craven College near Skipton, Northumberland College (Kirkley Hall Campus) and an open heat.

We are proud to tell you that our regional sponsors include the North of England Horticultural Society, organisers of the Harrogate Flower Shows (www.flowershow.org.uk ), Stockbridge Technology Centre at Cawood near Selby , (www.stockbridgetechnology.co.uk ), Rollins Bulldog Tools  (www.bulldogtools.co.uk ) and Adrain Stockdale (Plant Names Simplified). Without their continued support and our national sponsors, the Percy Thrower Trust  / Shropshire Horticultural Society  (www.shrewsburyflowershow.org.uk) , the competition would not go ahead.

Our winner last year, Emily Marston, from RHS Gardens Harlow Carr, came a very close second in an exciting Grand Final at RBG Kew last May and is now continuing her studies at RHS Gardens Wisley.

If you are able to attend the Regional Final, can you please confirm with the Branch directly northern@horticulture.org.uk by February 24th at the latest, with any dietary requirements, so that they can ensure catering and seating are provided.
