Date – 21 June 2022
Time – 6:30 pm
CIH Scotland Branch have been given the opportunity of an evening visit to Malleny Garden, Balerno on Tuesday 21st June at 6.30pm.
Originally, Malleny was part of a larger 3000-acre estate, however, today it consists of about 3 acres of garden set in approximately six acres of woodland. The woodland comprises of around 500 mature trees, these are mainly deciduous, but Scots Pine and Larch can be found on the southern edge. The walled garden is particularly interesting from May, and much thought has gone into the arrangement of plants for colour, height and structure, with scents for all to enjoy. The garden hosts a National Collection of shrub Roses, interplanted with flowering shrubs and perennials, along with four 400-year-old Yew, two Victorian greenhouses and well manicured lawns.
