Join the Irish heat winners of the Young Horticulturist of the Year in the grand surroundings of the National Botanic Gardens. Watch and cheer them on as they compete for a place in the Grand Final and a chance to win the £2,500 Percy Thrower Travel Bursary.

The National Botanic Gardens, this year’s venue for the regional final, is an oasis of calm and beauty. A premier scientific institution, the gardens contain important collections of plant species and cultivars from all over the world. The contestants will be asked a wide range of horticultural questions, some through buzzer round, and others directed to individuals. There are also two identification rounds to further test the depth and breadth of knowledge. The Irish final awards 1st place with £150, 2nd place receives £100 and 3rd place £75.  The winner progresses on to the Grand Final at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew on Saturday 11 May.
