Where are you starting from?
Are you:
- a 16 year old school-leaver?
- an adult with no previous experience?
You will want to consider:
- Have you 4 GCSEs at grade C or above?
- Have you the NCH?
- Have you the BTEC First Diploma?
- Have you completed NVQ Level 2 or a Foundation
Modern Apprenticeship?
You will want to consider:
- Have you at least one GCE A2-level, preferably
in science, and 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above,
preferably including science, mathematics and a subject testing
knowledge of English?
- Have you the BTEC ND, NC
or NA or an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship?
You should go on to:
- Have you 2 GCE A2-levels, preferably in chemistry
and biology, and 5 GCSE Grade C or above, including English language
and mathematics?
- Have you a pass in the BTEC National Diploma or BTEC National Certificate?
You will want to consider: BSc
Hons
- Have you 2 GCE A2-levels, one in science, 4 GCSEs
and 2 years practical horticultural experience?
Why not try: Botanic
Gardens Diploma - Kew
- Have you the BTEC HND or a Foundation
Degree?
You might be able to do: A 1-year course
to BSc
- Have you a good honours degree?
You could go on to: MSc,
MPhil
What about?:
- college, university: entry qualifications will
vary according to previous qualifications and/or experience.
- RHS
Diploma/Advanced Certificate
- or most of the above-listed courses would also
be open to you.
Are you a junior professional
horticulturist?
You should consider: The
RHS Diploma, leading to the MHort
Have you the RHS Diploma (formerly
Stage 1 of MHort), and appropriate professional experience?
