Membership of The Institute of Horticulture and the use of the letters after your name of FI Hort, MI Hort or AI Hort is a sure way of stating your professionalism.

This can be extended by the display of the Institute's logo on stationery, quotations, signs and advertising materials.

"THE HORTICULTURIST"
Free receipt of the Institute's quarterly journal, which includes technical and professional articles, book reviews section. The publication incorporates "Scientific Horticulture" and "Professional Horticulture". The cost of "The Horticulturist" to non-members is £65.00 per annum.

DIRECTORY OF CONSULTANTS
The Directory of Consultants puts members' names (and their company) on the Institute's list of professional consultants and can therefore be a useful source of potential new business. The Directory is both available in print or on this website

POLICY MAKING AND REPRESENTATION
There are opportunities to make an effective contribution to the Horticultural profession, through participation in deciding direction of the Institute through one of the Standing or Branch committees
Make your views known by assisting in preparation of Institute responses to consultation documents.

PROMOTING YOUR BUSINESS
Members can mail other Institute members with details of their products or services at a special members' only price; either as a separate mailing or insert into "The Horticulturist"

COUNSELLOR SCHEME
The Counsellor Scheme provides assistance to members of the Institute in developing their careers; and in fulfilling the experience and gaining the qualifications required to advance to Associate or Corporate Membership. It is a voluntary scheme.

TECHNICAL MEETINGS
The opportunity to attend specialist visits to growers, producers, research centres, landscaping schemes, botanic gardens, etc to enable professional horticulturists to gain first hand insight into current developments.

NETWORKING
Commercial, employment and other opportunities through meeting and networking with other horticulturists to exchange ideas and information.

JOINT SUBSCRIPTION TO ISHS (INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR HORTICULTURAL SCIENCE) AND SAVE 10% OFF BOTH SUBSCRIPTIONS
A special arrangement has been made with the International Society for Horticultural Science whereby members of both organisations get a 10% reduction off the subscription of each organisation

ISHS furthers all sectors of horticulture by improving international co-operation for scientific studies and exchange of knowledge. It provides a forum for its members to interact with other horticulturists worldwide and to receive the stimulus provided by exposure to important recent technological developments

PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE
The Institute has an arrangement with a specialist insurance broker who can negotiate Professional Indemnity Insurance for Institute members at very competitive rates especially for standard premiums for members regarded as "normal risks"; and may more than save YOUR SUBCRIPTION.

A RANGE OF INSURANCES arranged through HMCA with discounts of up to 40%.

Only direct sales and certain Kuoni holidays are not covered. The 5% discount comes off all parts of your holiday or travel bill. The Institute's Council uses the revenue generated for various initiatives - as well as keeping subscriptions down.
